A spokesperson from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration confirmed an increase in fatalities within Zone B, beneath the rubble of the collapsed State Audit Office building. Efforts to penetrate Zone C continue, as it is believed more people may be trapped there, a location where many fled during the incident.

At 5pm yesterday, April 5, T the new State Audit Office building, Ekwaranyu Amrapal, the Bangkok Metropolitan spokesperson, updated on the rescue operations.

He explained that attempts have been made to clear Zone A with a backhoe to move it to Zone B, where debris is densely packed. They are working to bring down the upper sections of the structure to facilitate access for the equipment.

Around 10pm, plans were in place to clear Zone C, linked to the parking area, as it is suspected that more people might be trapped there, a spot where numerous people were seen escaping.

The recovery is in progress, with a small backhoe already in Zone B; however, a larger one is required to further reduce the height of the debris, ensuring the safety of the working personnel. The mission to retrieve trapped bodies continues.

By 2.30am today, April 6, reports indicated a body was found in Zone B, believed to be deceased. However, access remains impossible, and the exact number of deceased is unconfirmed.

Efforts to assist survivors involve pinpointing multiple locations. The significant amount of debris inhibits access, and while officials have visually confirmed the presence of bodies, they are too deeply buried to be retrieved.

Consequently, fatality figures remain unchanged until the bodies are recovered. Currently, only parts of bodies are visible, which hinders the update of the death toll until full retrieval is possible, reported KhaoSod.
